- [Instructor] When you purchase ArcGIS, typically Esri provides you with a data CD or a download of many different GIS base layers and themes. And that's what I'm showing you here. Inside these folders, we have a host of GIS data lots of GIS databases and layers that have a ton of attribute data. And so you'll use this most often in your workflows and in your projects that you do daily. But there's more. Inside of ArcGIS, there are a couple of options to access data that I want to show you now. So here we are in Arc Map and if we click on file in the upper left here, we have a host of different options. The one we're interested in is ArcGIS online. When we click ArcGIS online, this window pane pops up and now we have access to a host of served GIS data all around the world. This data is served from ArcGIS servers.
