- There is most definitely a strategy to starting a candidate search. A successful recruiter who excels at filling roles will be able to explain their strategy. So what's yours? How do you prepare to start your searches? I spoke with Rocki to get her thoughts on crafting a comprehensive search strategy, and she shared an important tip. She clarified what the candidate pipeline is, and she said, "Most people say they have a candidate pipeline, but they confuse the candidate pipeline with a candidate database." She went on to explain that, "A pipeline is filled with people who will take my call and answer my email. A database is a list of names that I can start with." So if you're starting a candidate search, having a list of names is a good thing, right? Only if you don't actually have a pipeline. Think of it this way.
