- Building a great relationship with your boss or your clients isn't something that just happens, especially when you're working remotely. You really need to avoid the risk of out of sight, out of mind. That begins with making contact time a priority. If you're on a fully remote team, schedule regular dates with your boss. Ideally, you'll have a one-on-one meeting every week or two. And make a point of showing up for any informal contact time your boss schedules online, whether it's online team building events or regular drop-in hours. If you're in a job where your boss spends time in the office, try and organize your own schedule so you spend some time in the office on the days your boss is there.
