Creating extrusion roofs

- There's lots of ways to create roofs in a Revit project and in this video we're going to look at the roof by extrusion tool. This tool is useful for creating curved roofs or barrel vaults, and I'm going to show a kind of freeform roof here that I'm going to use as a little covering over this exterior door. So to get started, I think it will be a little bit easier to draw this roof directly in elevation rather than this 3D view. So I'm going to scroll down here to the elevations branch and double click the east architectural elevation and then zoom in on that exterior wall. Next I want to go to the dropdown menu on the roof tool and choose roof by extrusion. This will prompt me to select a work plane. Now, we haven't seen this message before because all the other objects that we've created, we've been working in floor plans, and when you work in a floor plan, the work plane is obvious.
