Using the shape editing tools to create a flat roof
- [Instructor] In this video, we're going to direct our attention to the flat roof on the east wing of the building. Now, flat roofs are not actually completely flat. There's always some slope to them to accommodate roof drainage, and that's usually determined by some building code. Now, an effective way that we can model that in Revit is using what we call the shape editing tools. So that's what I'm going to be focused on here in this video. Now, the first thing you need to know about the shape editing tools is they only are available if the element you're starting with is completely flat. So if I come over here and I select this sloped roof, notice that on the Modify ribbon, there's only one modified tool called Edit Footprint. However, if I deselect that roof, select this flat roof instead, and now look at the Modify ribbon, you'll see that there are several shape editing tools available.
