Selecting and using a boom microphone

- Besides placing a mic on your body or on the desk surface, you can also use a boom arm to get it more in place. Here, I'm using a small desktop boom that goes to a stand, but gets the mic much closer. You can also place the boom mic overhead in an overhead stand and even have it out of the shot, but this effectively places the microphone closer to the talking subject. Now, in this case, I'm using the same style of a Yeti mic as before, and it's going with a USB cable into the computer. I could adjust all of those settings right here on the front of the mic, but you notice that the mic is closer to my mouth. Instead of being on the desk, it's lifted up. This particular mic has a windscreen in front, as well as a holder here to minimize the vibration on the mics, just to keep it in place.
