- Email automation is something your marketing teams will probably be using to great effect. If they have a list of hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people to email about your products and services, they're not going to be doing that one by one. And this technology is nothing new. Mail Merge has been available since the eighties and it's been on Microsoft since the days of MS-DOS, so I'm not here to talk about that. I will give you a word of warning though. It's great to use, even as a salesperson, for slightly more targeted campaigns than your marketing team. Many CRMs have an email tool integrated where it automatically adds basic details. You just add a few small personalization. It can save you hours of time. But beware, if you send a prospect an email saying first name instead of their actual first name, or company instead of where they actually work, it can be really detrimental to your relationship…
