- [Instructor] I hate to admit it, but I'm terrible at listening when it comes to learning. I hear things, but my mind tends to wander unless I take detailed notes. In college, I would fill notebooks with nearly every word my professor said. I rarely revisited those notes, but simply writing them down helps solidify the information in my head. I didn't always know this about myself. I realized during school that I learned better when I wrote things down. Reading also came naturally to me, and I retain information easily that way. For me, if I can see the words, I can remember them, but that's just how my brain works. Your learning preference is likely very different. Some people are note takers. Others rely on visual cues, and some learn best by reading or listening. The key is that no two people learn exactly the same way, so it's essential to identify what works best for you.
