- Thanks for joining me in this course about supply chain information systems. While we've covered a lot of ground, this is really just the beginning of your journey. Before we finish, let me share a story. A few years ago, I worked with a company that was dealing with late shipments, rising costs, and frustrated customers. On the surface, it looked like a simple logistics issue, but once we dug deeper, we discovered that the real problem was the lack of connection between their supply chain information systems. The ERP didn't share data with the WMS. Many purchase orders were still processed manually. There was no demand planning system, just spreadsheets, so no one had full visibility. Part of the problem was that each of those systems had different owners in the organization, and no one was looking at how to tie them all together.
