- Isn't it great when you buy something online, and you can track your package? We've all become accustomed to being able to see where our deliveries are in real-time as they make their way from one shipping center to the next. When managing supply chain risk, it's helpful to have real-time monitoring of items moving globally. It's also important that we monitor our risks. Those things that can create disruptions to us. The key objective is to detect problems early so they can be managed before they create a big disruption. For example, a smoke detector detects fire early allowing people to evacuate before they're trapped. And as the fire is ideally still small it might be extinguished easily. So what we need to do is to detect issues early so we can quickly respond to ensure our supply chain does not have a heavy disruption.
