Data and system requirements for S&OP
- There are a lot of people involved in the S&OP process, and I bet you're wondering where to get all the information to share with all these people to drive the process. When you start to define your S&OP process, it'll be very helpful to leverage the SIPOC framework to identify the data inputs and outputs that will be needed to drive the S&OP process. When you look at SIPOC, remember that the inputs are the data points needed to drive that part of the process. We need to identify where that data might live or how to make it useful for the S&OP process. While you might need more than what we are going to talk about here, I've made a list of some core data that you will need as you start to execute your S&OP process. First, you'll need customer data from commercial or sales. You'll want to know customer name and customer location, as well as products ordered and when those products were ordered, and the revenue generated by those orders.
