From the course: Tableau 2024.1: Essential Training
Define parameter actions
Parameters let you create versatile filters in your workbooks. You can also use them to add useful features to a dashboard or worksheet. In this movie, I will show you how to add a reference line that moves in response to a parameter setting. My sample file is 12_07_Ref line, and you can find it in the Chapter_12 folder of the exercise Files collection. The first thing I need to do to create a parameter based reference line is to create a parameter that is not connected to any specific field. So rather than going to the sidebar and clicking the down arrow for one of the pills, I will go up and the toolbar here and then click this helpfully unlabeled down arrow and click create parameter. I will change the name of the parameter in the Create Parameter dialog box…
