And I said, well, how long have you been their manager? 12 years, she said. Letting a problem go on too long is pretty common whether you inherited the problem or not. So let's talk about some clear steps you can take when you've let the problem go on too long and what you can do to get a fresh start. Before taking any action, look at the company policy. Perhaps you don't have company policy or perhaps you just haven't enforced it. Either way, start there. Then when you're ready to take action, there are several steps you'll want to follow.
