- Have you ever said, "I should have said something earlier"? You avoided a conversation because the timing was off, so you decided to keep the peace. Let's face it, if you address something before its time, you'll be seen as a micromanager. But keeping the peace for too long can create big problems later on. So you'll want to look out for signs that it's time for that difficult conversation. Let's go over four of those now. The first sign is your inner landscape, your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. When something takes up space in your head, it's time for a conversation. For example, when I'm starting to feel resentment or when I'm obsessing about something I don't like about someone else, I remind myself it's time for a conversation. Another sign is unwanted business results. If profits are taking a dive or you're seeing more unwanted turnover or poor customer service reports, as a manager, it's your obligation…
