How to level the playing field for workers of all ages
- [Narrator] The Postgenerational Society of Perennials will level the playing field in terms of access to essentials like education, healthcare, employment, and housing. That will happen if we manage to overcome the cultural policy and organizational obstacles I mentioned above. We are very much prisoners to educational and work schemes of our own making, which are rampant with ageism. That is age prejudices, biases, and discrimination. A society driven by both generational values and mindsets that conform with a perennial way of life will be able to leverage new ways of organizing, learning, and work that leverage technology and thus level the playing field by age. And I think that will also help those who lose their turn in the sequential model of life when they either make the wrong decision, suffer from an unlucky strike, or are pushed aside by the circumstances, including teenage mothers, recovering drug addicts, foster care children, high school dropouts, and middle aged…
