- [Instructor] In Windows, to quickly test the speakers, click the volume notification. Click the adjustment bar to hear sounds. (notification pings) If you don't hear a sound, when you release the mouse- (notification pings) Something's wrong with the audio system. Otherwise, everything should be working right with audio output. And for additional options, right-click the audio icon and choose Sounds. On the playback tab, ensure that the proper output device is chosen. The default is flagged with a green check mark. On laptops, the audio device switches between internal speakers and the headphone jack when you connect your headphones. On the recording tab, ensure that you have the default input device selected, again with a green check mark. And while you generate audio input, you should see some activity over here on this bar.
