- At some point, you have to stop researching existing sources of information and start writing the new style guide. I suggest that you start with the sections I mentioned, brand and philosophy, audience, personality and tone, visual elements, and resource links, but feel free to add others or ignore some of these ones to fit in with your company's needs. For instance, if you're in a retail company with merchandise supplies, you might have a section on physical packaging style requirements. Whereas if you work in an online services company, you might need to focus more attention on the digital brand and style. Compile everything you found from the existing resources and start fixing inconsistencies. This is probably going to require lots of meetings, gathering more information about why the existing resources were written the way they were and what it might take to make the necessary changes to streamline everything…
