What a design system looks like
- Design systems are bigger than just a document, they're a way of working. However, the documentation is a tangible part of the system. Because design systems describe each interface component, the documentation typically follows the same pattern from system to system. At a high level, the design system works like this. Design and usability principles, accessibility, and internationalization concerns form the basis for the guidance that the system provides. These are brought to life by applying a specific visual style to each interface element to create a company-specific design language. This design language is then expressed in code examples or automation tools as a user interface framework using whatever development tools your company works with.
