- A big benefit of usability studies is that as well as quantitative data, which is percentages, proportions, and other hard numbers, these studies also provide lots of qualitative data that is participants, words, actions, and attitudes. Although qualitative data can sometimes be harder to analyze, the real advantage of it is that it lets you find out about issues you didn't know you had. If you think for a second about your knowledge of the product you work on, you can split it into four quadrants. Things that you know, you know, things that you don't know that you know, things you know that you don't know, and things that you don't know that you don't know. Things that you know, you know are the data you already have about your customers and how they like to work with your product.
