When to key in After Effects

- After Effects has a rich history as a key component for workflows for both the visual effects industry and the motion graphics design industry. Chroma keying has been a long part of that. Built into After Effects are several great tools, and in fact, we'll take advantage of what used to be a third-party plugin, but is now licensed and bundled with After Effects, a tool called Keylight. It's been used on numerous Hollywood movies and has won multiple Academy awards. Let me give you a quick walkthrough of some of its benefits. If you take a look at this After Effects project here, we have a getting started place. This is the same subject and scene that you just looked at. First up, we have a starting key and an ending key. Let's take a look at the starting one. Here, the subject is not yet keyed versus the end result.
