Bringing your presentation to life with storytelling
- [Jole] Hello, my name is Jole Simmons and welcome to Visual Storytelling in PowerPoint. Now believe it or not, PowerPoint, despite being known for bullet points, ugly charts and low-res Clip Art, is actually perfectly suited to captivating visual storytelling. But how do you take a typical dry all-hands deck or a Q4 finance update presentation or a really important pitch deck and bring it to life? Well, when we apply a classic story framework to it, we start to create something far more compelling, something a little bit more magical. We start to create depth, intrigue and rhythm to create something fantastic. Just by identifying the parts of a typical story, applying them to our presentation structure and sprinkling a little visual pixie dust on our slides, you can take your next presentation from a boring dry report into a solid story that will keep your audience engaged every time, and more importantly, one that will have them remembering key points and facts long after your presentation is over. So that's what we're going to do on this course. We're going to learn about storytelling, what makes a good presentation into a great presentation. Next, we'll do some hands-on work to learn how to create effective, compelling stories that will leave audiences engaged and entertained. And lastly, we'll learn some tips and tricks on how to actually deliver the story to our audience effectively. So let's dust off our gear and ready up for adventure because the story is about to begin.
