- [Instructor] Sometimes there's nothing you can do to get an unstable computer in good working order again, no matter how hard you try. When you come to this realization, you'll want to explore the recovery options. Click Start, Settings, Update & Security, and Recovery. You can reset the PC, perhaps go back to a previous version of Windows, or access Advanced startup options. Resetting the PC re-installs the Windows operating system, which fixes problems that have to do with Windows. Sometimes operating system files get corrupt or go missing and reinstalling them is you only way to repair them. This process will also uninstall applications, though. It's important to do this because oftentimes it's those pesky third-party apps that caused system instability. Removing these can resolve problems that no other method can.
