- [Instructor] Windows 10 contains a command prompt environment that mimics the DOS environment that was popular back in the 1980s. In spite of this environments age, it's still useful because there are any number of troubleshooting tools that run in a command prompt environment. The easiest way to access the command prompt environment is to simply right click on the start button, go to run and then type CMD. And this will open the command prompt environment. Occasionally, depending on what you're doing, you may find that you need to operate the command prompt environment with administrative privileges. In those types of situations, it's better to access the command prompt from the start menu. The way that you would do that is to click on the start button. Go to the W section. Expand window system.
