- [Instructor] At this point, we've talked about the different types of content you can have on your site, how to add, edit, and organize the content, and even work with images. This is the part of the show where we get to think about the design of the site. In WordPress Vernacular, themes are what control the look and the layout of the site. Think of themes as a layer that sits over your content. So here, the theme that I'm currently using, that's what's controlling the color scheme, the typography, the layout, the featured images, et cetera. A theme cannot change your content. It can only change the appearance. That means that you can change themes at any time without fear of losing or messing up your content. That being said, different themes do handle certain elements differently. So it's possible that you need to reconfigure some things or make adjustments if you're switching from theme to theme.
