- [Narrator] Themes are the quickest way to customize how your website looks and feels to visitors, and they allow you to build out pages and site designs without code. A theme is a piece of software that you can either download for free or purchase. The theme will provide you with design tools and content management tools so that you don't have to build everything from scratch. In short, a theme helps you get a professional-looking design much more quickly. Free themes are available through the WordPress theme directory. Your WordPress install will come with at least one default theme. Traditionally, there's a new one every single year, but there are actually thousands of themes out there to choose from, so feel free to try on a few others. Let's download a non-default theme and try it out. So we'll go to Appearance and then Themes, and then choose Add New Theme.
