- [Instructor] Before we start installing WordPress plugins, there's a couple things that we can change that will make a huge difference for our SEO. If you notice, our URL is wordpressseo.local, which is a local development site, but then my specific About page is ?page_id=9. Now we can make that a lot nicer and have it look something like /about. Let's go ahead and do that in WordPress. So go to my admin, we'll go to Settings, and then we'll go down to Permalinks. And if you have any other setting, I recommend changing it to post name. Let's go ahead and click Save Changes, and we'll go back to our About page, and let's refresh it. The URL is now much prettier. Search engines prefer easy-to-read URLs like this, so this is the first setting that you should change when you're optimizing your site.
