I stands for Insurance Product & Distribution We’ve recently published our InsurShift report and have received some great feedback and had some really insightful discussions - with clients, colleagues and other industry experts. I’d like to share some of the key learnings from these conversations with you in a new LinkedIn series. We’ll be following the INSUR journey framework, and to kick things off, let’s start with the ‘I’ - Insurance Product & Distribution. 1. Lack of Contextualization: Despite all the talk about hyperpersonalization, most insurance products are still sold as isolated offerings rather than being integrated into the customer’s journey. The right timing, channel, and context are often missing – a missed opportunity. 2. Agents and Digital Channels Need Better Coordination: Few insurance products are sold entirely online. There’s usually a point where an agent gets involved. Making this handoff seamless and equipping agents to be proactive is crucial. 3. Brokers Aren’t One-Size-Fits-All: Brokers play a key role (with growing importance), especially in complex insurance lines. They need customized solutions and support that fits their unique needs, not just generic portals. 4. Embedded Insurance Needs a Thoughtful Journey: We’ve seen cases where embedded insurance didn’t quite work out, for various reasons. One major learning: the real key is to integrate it meaningfully into the entire user journey and product offering. Key takeaway: Talking about hyperpersonalization or AI alone won’t fix the problem.
