💡 How do you innovate when resources are limited, yet expectations remain high? At the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (RIZIV-INAMI), Annick Mertens is leading an innovation strategy that combines multidisciplinary collaboration, AI and frugal innovation. With more than 20 concrete projects, the ambition is clear: making innovation a reflex. Not as a luxury, but as a necessity. “Innovation is no longer optional. In times of budgetary constraints, you simply cannot deliver quality public services without it.” The RIZIV experience shows how small, frugal interventions can already create big impact – while keeping an eye on the longer-term shift from incremental towards more transformative innovation. What does it take? Courage to start small, sponsorship from leadership , and the right allies at both strategic and operational level. 👉 Discover the full story on the Nido website: In Dutch: NL: https://lnkd.in/esfhAiXj In French: https://lnkd.in/eJwknFXj Annick Sools Mickaël Daubie #PublicSectorInnovation #FrugalInnovation #HealthCare #RIZIV #innovationstrategy

Hospital at Home: A Paradigm Shift in Care—and Insurance RGA’s Dr. Steve Woh explores how the Hospital at Home model is transforming healthcare by delivering hospital-level services directly into patients’ homes. For insurers, this raises important questions: 🔹 Will home-based care shorten disability durations and reduce LTD claims? 🔹 How might it affect underwriting assumptions for Life, AD&D, and LTC riders? 🔹 Could it reshape how we assess functional status and care levels for benefit eligibility? As care delivery evolves, so must our approach to risk, pricing, and product design. 📚 Read the full article: https://bit.ly/47muKEV #GroupInsurance #LTD #LifeInsurance #ADandD #LTC #Underwriting #ClaimsManagement #HospitalAtHome #Innovation #ESG #HealthTech

Is Mandating Riders at Renewal Fair to Policyholders? As personal finance expert, I've observed a troubling trend: health insurers mandating additional riders, like Personal Accident (PA) , OPD or inflation covers, during policy renewals. This practice, seen with companies like Niva Bupa and previously Tata AIG, leads to significant premium hikes—sometimes up to 70-80%—without clear justification. While riders can enhance coverage, making them compulsory without transparent communication undermines policyholder trust. In current instance clients of Nivabupa are having a harrowing time. Policyholders who have made a claim in previous policy year are to pay for 5x personal accident cover. This sudden inclusion of mandatory riders at renewal is catching clients off guard. It's essential for insurers to maintain transparency and offer flexibility, allowing clients to choose add-ons based on their needs. As consultants, we must advocate for our clients' best interests and push for ethical practices in the industry. #InsuranceEthics #ClientAdvocacy #HealthInsurance #PolicyRenewal #Transparency
