How to simplify dashboards with dynamic filters

Hi! 🖐 When desinign a matrix table - values can be shown either as columns or rows Notes: 🟦 Option "Switch values to rows" (under the "Values" section in the formatting pane) allows for displaying a single (or multiple metrics) as rows (which can be useful, if goal is to monitor numbers horizontally: for instance per period - as in this particular example). This can be accompanied by additional conditional formatting (with care, as it easy to visually overload the visualization with CF for multiple metrics simultaneously). An interesting case from Conversion Rate Experts. It can be used when creating dashboards. Here’s a heatmap from one of their clients’ product pages. After analyzing it, they made one change that increased transactions by 12% — write in comments what it was? Here are three hints: 1. It has nothing to do with the biggest hotspot on the main button. 2. They didn’t change a single word or graphic on the page. 3. All they did was make one small change. Take your best guess, then check on the link in my comment! #CRO #BI #UX #dasboard #ConversionRateOptimization

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 We’ve added a fully dynamic pulsating status indicator that integrates seamlessly with the existing notification panel. A simple SVG image that pulses dynamically. Colors can be customized and can change based on specific conditions (such as a status value) that you define in a measure. Ideally, the status field is loaded into a disconnected table in the model using DirectQuery. This allows for real-time updates of the status even when the model refresh fails. This small visual enhancement makes monitoring status changes more intuitive and adds professionalism to your reports. 🚀 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁? If everything is 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱, then nothing is. This Sunday's newsletter is all about "𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙚"—making sure the most important part of your reports gets seen first. It's not about decoration; it's about designing with purpose to deliver a clear and powerful message. I'll walk you through how to stop designing and start guiding: 🎯 Using a single accent color and a grayscale scheme. 🎯 Placing vital info where the eye naturally scans (The F/Z Pattern). 🎯 Creating smart conditional formatting to automate key insights. The goal is to turn your dashboards from something people just look at into a story they can understand in seconds. See you in your inbox on Sunday! Hi! 🖐 Column-based dynamic custom tooltips (different tooltip page for each metric). Hats off and full acknowledgement go to Jörg Schmidt who introduced me to this technique today through an outstanding post from Andrzej Leszkiewicz. Notes: 🟦 Besides of presented pdf example - I haven't tested that feature in real use-cases yet. Nevertheless, I believe it's worth mentioning and investigating that feature more deeply (to find practical use-cases and potential limitations). 🟦Presented tooltips (on the PDF) are just examples. This individual tooltip pages can include different visualizations that presented here. What's your thought? Did you have a use-case when different tooltips were needed based on a selected column (metric) including a different set of visualizations? Some variant could include separate tooltip pages based on the breakdown selection (different set of visualizations depending on which category/structure we're currently analyzing, assuming it's can be changed dynamically). 📉 Frustrated by GA4 and other analytics reports? You’re not alone. Most platforms throw charts at you, but never explain what they mean — or what to do with them next. By contrast, custom dashboards give you: ✅ A clear view of what’s driving performance ✅ Metrics aligned to your specific goals (instead of industry jargon) ✅ Real-time data that’s easy to read, interpret & act on Learn about our Precision Metrics solution at https://lnkd.in/eiJmfAmf #WebsiteAnalytics #CustomDashboards #DashboardDesign #DigitalStrategy #MarketingIntelligence #BusinessInsights #WebsitePerformance #WebsiteData #UX

Dashboards are supposed to save time. Some end up wasting it. I've seen dashboards that look stunning but fail to deliver quick insights. The issue often lies in the presentation, not the data itself. Key issues: → Too many metrics without clear priority → Complex visuals that hinder quick understanding → Filters that are hard to find or use To create effective dashboards: → Focus on 3–5 key metrics → Prioritize information with a clear hierarchy → Ensure filters are intuitive and accessible → Design for clarity, then add aesthetics Dashboards should empower quick decisions, not complicate them. Which dashboard friction annoys you the most in tools you use daily? #BusinessIntelligence #UX #UXClarity #SaaSUX #FrictionlessDesign #UXThinking

Dashboards are products, not just reports Great dashboards behave like products: • Clear problem & user • Tiny v1 shipped early • Changelog + feedback loop • Roadmap & deprecations If your dashboard can’t tell its story on one screen, it’s probably a report and not a product. #DataAnalytics #PowerBI #SQL #BusinessIntelligence #DashboardDesign #ProductThinking #UX
