Behind the scenes of our product showcase this week in Tokyo. 🤫 With Nissan Motor Corporation we unveiled next-generation ProPILOT, integrated with the Wayve AI Driver. ➡️ Over the last 2 weeks the Wayve AI Driver has been busy and has completed 52 demo drives with media in busy downtown Tokyo. 🇯🇵 ➡️ During one day of demos torrential rain caused local trains to cease operation. Media expected we’d cease operations too, but we went forward and continued to see intervention-free drives. 🌧️ Watch the experience here: https://lnkd.in/eqdp-2YB ➡️ This is exactly six months after we did our very first drive in Japan, which is a remarkable rate to learn Japanese navigation and traffic conditions! This is an important step in our partnership as we scale towards global autonomy. By combining Wayve’s embodied AI foundation model with Nissan’s advanced driver assistance system, we’re creating a safer, smarter and more intuitive driving experience. Let's go!
Progress like this shows how strategic partnerships can accelerate innovation and unlock new possibilities in autonomous driving.
‘Torrential’ is almost an understatement….
That is insane rain!
Note that those six months are for both generalising to a new continent AND to a new vehicle platform. I keep being amazed at how well our model can learn new things!

1wCongratulations Alex Kendall and team for this. Japan is probably one of the harder geographies to "learn to drive" in, so even more excited about this!
