We’re excited to share that, together with Medical University of Silesia, we’ve been selected for funding under the European Funds 2021–2027 (FEDS) for our upcoming research project: “Telemedical technology supporting diagnostics through automatic analysis of lab test results combined with a medical interview.” Highlights: 🤝 Project value: 7,116,986.36 PLN 🤝 Expected start: September 2025 🤝 Scientific partnership: Labplus + Medical University of Silesia 🤝 Project funding: European Funds for Lower Silesia | Republic of Poland | European Union | Lower Silesia Why this project is groundbreaking: 1️⃣ Automatic interpretation of 200+ lab tests, covering 90% of lab orders. 2️⃣ Algorithms for highly specialized tests, never before analyzed automatically alongside patient interviews. 3️⃣ Validation in two clinical centers, involving nearly 1,000 patients, in collaboration with SUM. Why it matters: 👉 Approx. 30 million Europeans search online every month for lab result explanations. 👉 Lab tests influence 70% of medical decisions. 👉 Patients currently wait 3.7 months on average just to discuss results. Our goal: cut that wait from months to minutes. Yesterday, participants and speakers of the 11𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐙𝐇𝐊 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 demonstrated true 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦: what drives scientists forward also helps when the train fails to run. So what happened? A „Stellwerkstörung“ cut off the direct route to Heidelberg where over 250 cardiovascular researchers from all over Germany were to meet. 🥴 The 11𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐙𝐇𝐊 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 almost ended up being an event without speakers and with only half the expected number of participants [spoiler alert: in the end, no one was left behind.] What researchers are particularly good at also helped in these circumstances: 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬: tram ride from Mannheim to Heidelberg – for those who haven't experienced it yet: veeeeeery slowing down effect 🚋 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: spontaneous carpools formed at the most remote places – networking with a difference! 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐩: even when taxi calls were cancelled, our researchers stayed focused and in the end they reached their goal 🚕❌ And then we finally got started: with our new strategic focus areas. Yesterday with the topics of 𝘐𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 and 𝘏𝘍𝘱𝘌𝘍. Today we will move on to the second round with 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘮𝘺𝘰𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 and 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 & 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯. The 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 featured personal insights from Julia Schaft, Marie Schroeder and Mario Berger: How can research transfer be successful? What challenges did they face in turning an idea into a product, and how did they overcome them? We were particularly delighted to welcome two guests: Ruth Biller and Ulrich Janßen from our fledgling 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝. A congress is not only defined by its lectures and content – it thrives on how these contents are made visible and tangible. The meta-fusion webcast team is on the road again, this time at the European Congress of Pathology #ECP2025 of the European Society of Pathology (ESP) in Vienna, hosted at the Austria Center Vienna (ACV). We are producing a live webcast in ten rooms simultaneously, with sessions streamed directly on demand into the library. This year we aided the association in offering not only whole session recordings, but individual lecture recordings on-demand. Over 5,000 attendees are on site with hybrid access, complemented by an extended reach of more than 500 additional attendees following the congress virtually. Thanks to the rapid direct-on-demand availability, the journey from lecture to knowledge transfer is reduced to just a few minutes. Industry content also remains visible and measurable on demand, significantly increasing sponsor ROI. The congress kicked off on Saturday evening with the Opening Session. Since Sunday, four full days of scientific programme have been running, including three daily slots of industry symposia (breakfast, lunch and evening symposia) – a big organisational and technical challenge that our 15-member webcast team, led by Matthias Mohr, is mastering excellently.
