Why Do We Need IDPS Together with EDR? EDR examines what is happening inside the computer. It can detect suspicious actions, like ransomware or other irregular processes, and then stops them. IDPS examines the network. It can detect and prevent dangerous traffic, scans, or attacks before they reach the end point. Using only one of them, will create blind spots. But when using both, we achieve stronger protection—network and endpoint working together. #CyberSecurity #EDR #IDPS #NetworkSecurity #EndpointSecurity #InfoSec #DefenseInDepth #Ransomware

FBI releases malware free botnets only to be taken again by hackers, after - https://lnkd.in/eWkPfixw In a significant move, the FBI recently announced the release of over 95,000 devices that had been previously compromised by botnets. These devices, which were once under the control of malicious actors, have been cleansed of malware and are now back to normal operations. However, this brief moment of relief was short-lived. Within a matter of weeks, nearly a quarter of these devices found themselves reinfected, with cybercriminals leveraging them to further their malicious activities, including ransomware distribution and the execution of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. What Are Botnets? To understand the implications of this incident, […] [read the full post here: https://lnkd.in/eWkPfixw] #cybersecurity #informationsecurity #cybersecurityinsiders Join our newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eTaBGaWv

#OnThisDay in 2021, the notorious REvil ransomware group reappeared. Just a few weeks after going quiet. Their return wasn’t subtle. It was a warning. A warning that ransomware groups are more persistent than we’d like to believe. REvil had already disrupted major corporations and supply chains. When their servers suddenly went dark in July, some assumed law enforcement had won. But by August 23, they were back online. Same group. Same tactics. Same threat. This wasn’t just a comeback. It was a wake-up call: · Ransomware groups evolve quickly · Disruptions are often temporary · Sophisticated actors are constantly adapting The lesson? Threats don’t disappear. They regroup. And when they do, they often return stronger. That’s why your cybersecurity strategy can’t be a one-time project. It needs to evolve, too: · Backups should be tested regularly · Endpoint defenses must be kept current · Response plans should be ready to deploy · Training needs to be more frequent REvil proved that cybercriminals don’t rest. So, neither should we. #Cybersecurity #Ransomware #REvil #IncidentResponse #ThreatIntelligence #ITSecurity
