All BiocSol team would like to extend our sincere thanks to UCLouvain - Université catholique de Louvain for putting the spotlight on its spin-offs and BiocSol during the recent evening dedicated to innovation, organized as part of the university’s 600th anniversary celebrations. 🙏 It was an honour to be included among more than 90 innovative companies born from UCLouvain’s research, and to share the stage with so many inspiring entrepreneurs and researchers. 💡 The event at Aula Magna was a strong reminder of the vital role that academic spin-offs play in translating research excellence into real-world impact. As highlighted by Rector Françoise Smets the creation of a spin-off embodies the university’s threefold mission: - research excellence 🏆 - multidisciplinary team formation 🤝 - and direct contribution to societal well-being 🌍 We are proud to be part of this dynamic community, which collectively generates significant economic and social value for the Walloon region and Belgium. 🇧🇪 We would also like to thank Pierre-François Lovens and La Libre for their recent article, which sheds light on the challenges of creating a spin-off in Wallonia and the evolving landscape for academic entrepreneurship. The article underscores the importance of ongoing support and new initiatives, such as the ICE Louvain incubator announced by UCLouvain - Université catholique de Louvain, to help researchers bridge the gap between laboratory and market. 🚀 A word of appreciation goes as well to academics without whom nothing would have been possible: Claude Bragard, Jacques Mahillon, Anne Legreve, and to the team at SPW-Recherche for their dedicated management of the Win4SpinOff program, with a special thanks to Annette Bastiaens, who has followed our very beginning.
