CableLabs hosts PON Interop·Labs event in Louisville, CO, with record OLT suppliers and expanded test cases.

The Calix team recently participated at CableLabs Interop·Lab event as a committed member of the CPMP working group. For the third time this year, Calix joined other OLT and ONT vendors to collaborate on this important development and testing initiative. Calix also participated in a similar event organized by the Broadband Forum as a multi-year Plugfest series to be held in laboratories around the world. Calix plays a pivotal role in advancing compliance with the Cable OpenOMCI specification, a key step toward achieving interoperability in PON fiber networks.

🌐 During Way Out West 2025, we conducted a test of private 5G in one of Sweden's most demanding event environments. The test is part of Testbed as a Service – a mobile and controlled platform for testing technology, practicing collaboration, and developing practical preparedness in realistic contexts. What made this trial truly unique was its setting: the main stage of a live concert, one of the densest, most high-pressure environments for connectivity, even more so than stadiums or traditional venues. This test involved a wide array of devices and technologies operating simultaneously, including mobile phone terminals, 5G routers, cameras and their associated apps and data traffic – all successfully managed over the private 5G network. A critical success factor was the pivotal role of NEC as the system integrator of the end-to-end solution, ensuring seamless integration between radio network and the 5G Core.
