The Netherlands is rolling out solar and wind power at a massively accelerated rate! In the past three years, the Dutch have added about 1,300 kWh of clean energy per person (I've managed to add 9,000kWh/per year during this time), putting the country right up there with Sweden and Finland, almost matching the legendary pace of France’s '80s nuclear boom. That’s a ton of sunshine and seaside breezes being turned into kilowatts. With more wind turbines and solar panels lining rooftops combining with grid upgrades and storage, the Dutch renewable revolution here is hopefully only going to get faster. https://lnkd.in/g2ssTUs9 "In an historic first, solar power generated more electricity than any other source in the EU last month." "New data from energy think tank Ember shows that solar accounted for 22.1 per cent of the EU’s electricity mix in June 2025, narrowly overtaking nuclear – and, notably, far outpacing fossil fuels." "At least 13 member states hit monthly solar power records, including the Netherlands (40.5 per cent) and Greece (35.1 per cent), thanks to a surge in capacity and a stretch of sunny weather." "The shift also helped the EU manage a spike in energy demand driven by the early-summer heatwaves that continue to batter the continent." As every country in the world pursues the energy transition with "overwhelming public support for renewable energy sources, especially when they offer visible economic benefits", in the US, the Administration doubles down on "The Climate Hoax" nonsense, even as we see the economic benefits and witness the ravages of climate change. The world has proven that the US (Climate Hoax) position is a failed business model, which will soon collapse due to the overwhelming weight of economic, technical and climate reality.

Europe has embraced renewable energy 🌍⚡ This net generation share map illustrates it perfectly. The European continent is undergoing an unprecedented energy transformation. According to the most recent data, renewables are rapidly gaining ground in the European Union's energy mix. Nordic countries like Sweden and Denmark are leading the transition, with over 60% of their net generation coming from renewable sources. 💨🌞 Spain shows significant progress, with a notable increase in wind and solar energy that already accounts for more than 40% of its electricity generation. Germany, despite phasing out nuclear power, has maintained an impressive renewable share thanks to its investments in wind and solar. Eastern European countries, although with more modest development, show a clear growth trend in clean energy. This progress aligns with the EU's climate goals and the strategic need to reduce external energy dependency. The energy transition is not only an environmental necessity but also an economic and energy security opportunity. 🌍 What Powered the World in 2024—and Where’s the Shift Headed? The latest insights from the Statistical Review of World Energy 2025 spotlight a stark reality: • Global energy supply hit 592 EJ: • Oil: 34% • Coal: 28% • Natural Gas: 25% • Non-fossil fuels: ~13.5% (renewables, nuclear, hydro combined) Fossil fuels still dominate—making up nearly 87% of the world’s energy. And yet, there’s another side to the story: • Renewables powered 38% of the growth in total energy supply in 2024, outpacing all other sources. • Renewables grew from just 3% in 1990 to over 8% in 2024 of total energy demand. • In electricity, clean energy sources generated nearly 40% of the world’s power in 2023, with wind and solar rising from 0.2% to 13.4% of the mix since 2000. This paints a powerful picture: Renewables are surging rapidly—but not yet displacing fossil fuels. They’re meeting new demand, not replacing old. The Strategic Challenge For energy leaders and policymakers, the focus must go beyond clean energy expansion. We must ask: how do we ensure renewables displace, not just complement, fossil fuels? How can we balance energy access, affordability, and reliability—especially in emerging economies? Let’s discuss these strategic levers and pathways to secure a cleaner, more resilient global energy future. Strengthening Grid Oversight, Reforming Utility Duties, And Involving Communities Highlighted As Crucial To Reignite Japan’s Green Energy Growth Japan has the potential to meet its commitment to triple renewable power capacity by 2030 if it addresses structural and institutional barriers, according to a new report from the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA). The report notes that, despite sluggish progress in recent years, solutions exist to overcome systemic obstacles and unlock growth. Japan’s electricity market is dominated by ten major utilities, which control nearly 75% of installed power capacity but own less than 0.3% of non-hydro renewable capacity, focusing instead on fossil fuels and nuclear energy. In 2024, a record 52 renewable energy developers exited the […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dZ7twNUj #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #asia #cleanenergy #energyeconomicsandfinancialanalysis #energysolutions #greentransition #grid #ieeefa #renewableenergy #renewableenergy #solarenergy #solarprojects

☀️ Historic Milestone: Solar Becomes Europe’s #1 Electricity Source ⚡️ For the first time in history, solar power has overtaken all other sources to become the leading provider of electricity in the EU. 📊 In June 2025, solar supplied 22.1% of the EU’s electricity mix, surpassing nuclear and leaving fossil fuels behind. Key highlights: • 🌍 13 EU countries set new solar records, with the Netherlands (40.5%) and Greece (35.1%) leading the way. • 💨 Wind also hit new highs, helping meet demand during early summer heatwaves. • 🪨 Coal power fell to a record low of just 6.1% – the lowest share ever recorded. • 🇮🇪 10 EU countries, including Ireland (which closed its last coal plant in June), generated zero coal power. This marks a pivotal shift in Europe’s energy landscape: as solar rises, coal continues its decline. The EU’s energy transition is accelerating, driven by strong public support (nearly 90% of Europeans back renewables) and the clear benefits of solar – lower bills, energy security, and local job creation. From just 1% of the EU’s renewable mix in 2008 to 20.5% in 2023, solar has now become the cornerstone of Europe’s clean energy future. 🌱 🔑 Europe is becoming a solar powerhouse. #Solar #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #EnergyTransition #GreenFuture

Today at the International Forum on Pumped Storage Hydropower, arranged by International Hydropower Association (IHA) in Paris, Mikael Lemström, Executive Vice President of Hydro Generation at Fortum, highlighted the critical role of pumped storage power (PSP) in building a resilient and flexible Nordic energy system. At Fortum, we already deliver reliable, low-carbon energy to our customers and support industries in their journey toward decarbonisation. In 2024, 99% of our power generation came from renewable or nuclear sources, placing us among the lowest CO₂ emitters in Europe. But the energy landscape is changing fast. As demand becomes more unpredictable and weather-dependent renewables grow, we face increasing volatility in power markets. To meet this, we need smart solutions — smart charging, demand response, and energy storage. 💡 PSP is one of the most powerful solutions. It can produce, consume, and store electricity at scale offering long-term flexibility and predictability for both households and industries. That’s why Fortum has signed the Paris Pledge, showing our commitment to a clean energy transition in Europe. 📖 Learn more about our pumped storage initiatives 👉 here https://lnkd.in/dxMXtYu4 #PumpedforPower #WithHydropower #decarbonisation
