Here’s to new adventures, partnerships and discoveries. 🌊 Our #RVInvestigator has arrived in Nuku‘alofa, Tonga, on its first visit to the country. The voyage is part of collaborative research into the aftermath of the 2022 Hunga Volcano eruption, the most powerful in more than a century. A 40-strong international team, working with Tonga Geological Services, will undertake over 120 scientific operations: from mapping the 2000-metre undersea volcano to sampling marine life and tracking volcanic plumes. We’re grateful for the chance to work alongside partners in Tonga and across the Pacific and proud to support new knowledge of one of the most significant volcanic events in history.
