Cohesity's role in cybersecurity and AI: Insights from Cyber AI Summit

Welcome Greg to the Cyber Air Summiter Awards. My first question is about AI. We hear a lot about a it's both acceleration. So what do you? See as the most prominent or significant AI trend in the next couple of years or where are we headed in terms of AI? Yeah, I think thank you very much for for asking me to come and chat to you know, obviously I'm the regional director for Cohesity software. I think from from our perspective, number one is around cyber security is not something new unfortunately in terms of the Middle East where the number one targets for things like ransomware attacks and unfortunately, you know, we've been leveraging AR for quite a long time. Ready to help our customers not only you know, prevent the ransom weight. Well, we don't prevent it, but certainly a detectives protected help customers recover from it and then be able to orchestrate some plan simulations and then help obviously for things like governance will apply. So audit trails that's really around the cybersecurity side of its and unfortunately our product is very mature and that helps our customers recover in a matter of hours as opposed to days and weeks. The next exciting thing around AI. At the moment is Gen. AI and so historically speaking, people have about 80 to 90% of their data is what we call unstructured data. So it's dark, it's siloed and no one ever does anything with it. Now with Cohesity Gaya as it is now known, we help customers use Jen AR to unlock the value of their data. So on your data, you can now get check GPT functionality. So for example, if you're a hospital, you can now go query. Can you please tell me you know how many FEMA operations we did between ex date? Why dates and within a matter of seconds, it will go and retrieve that for you. So, so we're, we're very far advanced in terms of AR capabilities and what's available today in both cyber security as well as Gen. AI. So you'll see a lot of a lot of companies focusing on on things like Gen. AI because people need value from their data, right? So we used to say data is the new oil. I would take it a step further and say data is actually the currency, right? It's, it's that important to people. So you know, it's, it's about managing the data. Protecting the data and obviously getting insights into the data and simplifying that, right, right, right. So today you have many options available, different, lots of different tools. You know, these summits, you meet lots of different specific vendors, but how many of them can actually protect, manage, secure and provide insights into all of your data through a single GUI interface is kind of where we want to be and where we're leading the way. And while we're number one in the world today in terms of amount of data under management, right? So it's not only about AR, it's about ARS. Will get it. You know, we have 10 of the top 10 biggest banks in the world using our products. So it's not just about being able to say, yeah, we can do AI for a small company who has a laundromats and they want to track how many suits they're keen last week, you know, we talking about cyber security and Jenayah scale. So like you said, data, AI, cybersecurity and businesses all over the world. Actually, you're so confused about where to begin, what to do, how to implement something that makes sense across these parameters. So what do you think is the one thing that companies, especially in the region, given the uniqueness of this region and the unique nature of the cyberattacks, should keep in mind while implementing a cyber strategy or cyber defense mechanism? Yeah, do your homework and work with a trusted vendor. PowerPoint slides, speeches are not good enough. Do your proof of concept, do your testing, do your analysis properly. Otherwise, you know, you could be going down a an AI Rd. Actually, they did a research recently, the biggest. Problem with AI is failed projects, right? That's one of the biggest problems, problems that people face at the moment. So, so fortunately, you know, companies like like Cohesity software and and many others out there, we have tried and tested products. So you know, there's everyone is trying to do a I, there's a lot of startups out there, a lot of good startups out there. But I think just be cautious and you know, be be very careful about tried and tested vendors who are actually doing it with existing customers and look at the proof points speak to existing customers, not, not just. In the region, speak to global customers, speak to customers in the US and in Europe in APEC and say, hey, you know, there's this tool, this is a cyber security tool or there's this Gen. AR tool we're looking to use. You know, do your homework. Don't just jump in and say, oh, we've got an AR project, let's do it. Absolutely. Now what is the one focus of Cohesity in this region? As you as you work with cybersecurity and AI, this is where the number one vendor in the data protection space. So we protect the most amount of data of everybody both in the region and globally. Our job now is to go to the customers and educate them on how AI can enable them and make them more efficient, make them be able to do things faster. So we talk about the 5S, right? So, so how do we do things at scale? How do we do things in a simple manner, right? And how do we do things fast speed as it's known about. And then that all comes together with the smart. So we we need to go to these customers. We need to show them and educate them because there's a lot of customers out there that we have. And our job right now is to go and educate these customers on what are the benefits, you know, if you're a bank, for example, and it's taking you. A few weeks to find bank statements from from 5-6 years ago that no longer needs to be the case. You know it, it should take you literally seconds to be able to do that. So yeah, we have a job to do. And also educating customers on simplicity. As I said to you earlier, there's a lot of tools out there, but sometimes, you know, you need to be able to consolidate all these technologies into one single GUI interface and be able to help customers become more efficient and at the same time keep the bad people at Bay. So it's basically awareness. And a lot of knowledge about, you know, this space. That's what I do. Yeah. And not just customers, it's our partner, it's our community. Absolutely. The whole community collaboration, collaborating with our partners. How do we take this to the market? How do we educate them to go to their customers? We, we cannot scale the force multipliers, not with Cohesity or with the vendors, the force multipliers with the channel. So the local partners all across the Middle East are super important to us and we treat them like gold, right? Because they have many customers that we can deal with. So yeah, we, we very, very channel. 100% channel focused business and and our job is to make sure that they can get the message across to the customers and the end users. Thank you very much.
