But here's the reality: agencies can't leverage agentic AI effectively when data is trapped in silos, quality is inconsistent, and systems can't talk to each other. The same legacy infrastructure that slows us down today will completely block tomorrow's AI-powered government services. Three imperatives emerged from our discussion: 🎯 Leadership Commitment: Modernization requires executive champions who understand that data infrastructure isn't just IT—it's mission enablement. We need leaders who can break down organizational silos and drive enterprise-wide transformation. 👥 Workforce Development: Our federal workforce needs training and support to work alongside AI systems. This isn't about replacement—it's about augmentation. Investing in upskilling today determines whether we lead or lag in the AI era. 🔗 Data Integration: Clean, interoperable, secure data is the fuel for agentic AI. Without enterprise data strategies and cross-agency standards, we're building AI capabilities on shaky foundations. I also participated in a closed-door session on Agentic AI that explored the opportunities, challenges, and roadmap for responsible implementation across government. The conversation reinforced my conviction that the next five years will define whether government can harness AI's potential or watch it pass us by. The window for proactive transformation is closing.
