“You can empower users to create the custom business logic that they need, so users get to do exactly what they want instead of bending their use case to what a company has built.” ✨
Tracy Lee, CEO of This Dot Labs, shares with our CTO, Sagnik Nandy, how Docusign for Developers equipped their team to build extension apps that provides users the flexibility to create custom agreement workflows, tailored to their exact business needs. With a single flow, users can:
- Send and track agreements
- Sync data bi-directionally with CRMs
- Automate onboarding task creation in Asana
- Trigger targeted campaigns in Mailchimp
- Push real-time notifications to Slack

You are also big on extension apps. Can you share a little more on developing extension apps, why you're building them? Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. So you'd want to develop an extension app if you have a SaaS product, let's say, that needs to be integrated into other systems. I'm sure many of us have heard a customer say, hey, I have a custom business use case, right? And it's always a balance that's the company to try to figure out, do we build to that custom use case or do we just let that be a specific use case that we don't account for? And there are real world example of how Maestro and its API has enabled an organization given like, you know, the wide number of customer use cases. You can, yeah, definitely, well also say just really quickly like extension apps to understand them a little bit better. They just provide the baseline for how 2 systems interact with each other, right? So this makes the apps incredibly easy to build and way more powerful and flexible, right? Like you basically can empower users to create the custom business logic that they need. So users get to do exactly what they want instead of bending their use case to what a company is built. So we at the last DocuSign Momentum, we actually built a workflow for a business that automates onboarding partners as an example. So, uh, without development resources, we were able to send a partnership agreement and monitor its status, add partner information to our CRM with copies of that agreement, create a task for onboarding and Asana and roll partners and targeted marketing campaigns with mail Champ and then notify our team in Slack. So this again, is all using all the different apps we're able to build. And you can see how that really helps enable a small business and even large businesses who have a lot of repetitive. Manual processes around documents or again, just any, anything manual that you have to do to onboard anybody. Again, this took very little effort due to the ability that Maestro has to automate all of these tasks. So I would really encourage you all to check out the App Center. And if you're using any of the SAS products that are mentioned here or that are in the DocuSign App Center, it is incredibly easy to start automating some of those business processes you might have within your org and improve efficiency today.
