Kurt Gish and I are very fortunate to have participated in the Stanford dy/dx program this summer at the Graduate School of Business. Impressively organized by Garth Saloner, Anne Beyer, and Sacha Ledan, each year this program brings together top professors, successful founders, and VC partners to share effective processes that yield highly aligned companies that make big change in the world. This program is amazing. We discussed business strategy, the importance of values and alignment across an organization, hiring processes that support alignment, and strategies for improved communication. Constant themes: 1) build effective processes through careful thought, research and iteration 2) Center your team on core values that you would hire and fire over. 3) How you show up matters for you, your team, and the people who want to do business with you. Being a founder is hard. dy/dx enabled me to make strong connections and to discuss key challenges with like founders aiming for the moon, and I feel great being part of the dy/dx community. Overall, this experience has better positioned me as a founder and BioLoomics as a company to bring big impact to the cancer therapeutics market. Special thanks to the professors and presenters that shared their wisdom: Deborah Gruenfeld, Matt Abrahams, Scott Brady, Roelof Botha, Eric Schmidt, Dan Klein and many more. Special thanks to the VC partners that sponsored the program: Accel, Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed, and Innovation Endeavors.
