🚨 Game-Changer for Mediterranean Wind!   After several months of port, logistics, and maritime coordination, the first floating wind turbine of the EFGL project – Floating Wind Turbines of the Gulf of Lion – has been successfully installed 16 km off the coast of Leucate and Barcarès, in the Occitanie region.   Launched at the end of 2023 with the installation of anchors and the connection cable, this exceptional and unprecedented project in the region mobilized several specialized actors to ensure the turbine's towing, hauling, and escort to its anchoring site. It is a spectacular operation that fully showcases local industrial expertise. Led by OW Ocean Winds in partnership with Banque des Territoires, this pilot project marks a major step forward for offshore wind development in France. Construction will continue until the installation of the last two turbines at the end of August 2025.   With a unit capacity of 10 MW and a blade tip height of 186 meters, the EFGL project’s turbines are the most powerful ever installed in France and the most powerful floating turbines in the world. ⚡Once operational, this pilot farm will be able to cover the electricity needs of over 50,000 inhabitants – one more step towards a more sustainable energy future. 📸 EFGL©️ #OffshoreWind #EnergyTransition
