ENERCON improves nuclear plant flood risk analysis with GOTHIC

#ENERCON developed advanced GOTHIC flooding models for a U.S. commercial nuclear plant to modernize and enhance the flexibility of existing Analyses of Record (AOR), which were originally based on hand calculations. By transitioning to GOTHIC, a state-of-the-art computer code modeling program, our team enabled more dynamic and detailed simulations of potential flooding scenarios. This advancement improves the plant’s ability to assess and mitigate flood risks that may arise from operational changes or unforeseen events. “A utility approached the Engineering & Safety Analysis team for support in developing flooding models using GOTHIC, aiming to speed up their internal responsiveness to plant configuration changes,” shared Spencer Feuerstein, ENERCON’s Chief Safety Analysis Engineering Senior Manager. “Our team lead by Drew Blackwell successfully delivered a high-quality product that met the client’s schedule requirements.” The technical team’s collaboration, technical quality, and responsiveness has led to additional opportunities in 2025 to make additional updates to the model. “There is no greater compliment from a client than repeat business. The continued success of our organization depends on maintaining strong relationships, earning trust, and delivering consistent value. Thank you to everyone involved in this effort for upholding ENERCON’s core values.” #Engineering #SafetyAnalyses #GOTHICProgram #NuclearEnergy #CarbonFree https://lnkd.in/di6XPQjV
