Underdeveloped transmission capacity is impeding the development of onshore wind infrastructure in the United States and throughout the European Union, with only 3.9 gigawatts (GW) of new onshore wind capacity added in 2024. Onshore wind boosters believe that overall investment in grid infrastructure and the implementation of Dynamic Line Rating, or reactive programs and data collection systems that can adjust grid load in real-time, could significantly reduce transmission barriers and speed the development of future onshore wind installations. Floating #offshore wind is moving fast from promise to scale.📈With 270 MW already operational in 2023 and a 244 GW global project pipeline, the technology is set to transform the #renewableenergy landscape. Yet, to stay on a 1.5°C pathway, offshore wind must grow from 63 GW today to 494 GW by 2030. Read now: https://lnkd.in/gduUmWje

Repowering projects are low risk, high impact and grid ready. Our latest insight from Technical Director, Wind, Ian McLean, discusses the advantages of repowering sites that already have planning precedent, operational history, and local familiarity, and how they present a unique opportunity to increase wind power with reduced timelines. If you're attending Onshore Wind 2025 in Edinburgh next week, you can find Ian on our stand to chat repowering and all other key issues shaping the onshore wind landscape today. And speaking of facts, there is an amazing article https://lnkd.in/dmx3Raaq from Hartman at the US Department of Energy, published last August, highlighting the top things you may not know about Offshore Wind. I want to highlight the following: "Offshore wind represents a major opportunity to provide power to highly populated coastal cities. The first operational commercial-scale wind power plant in the United States, the 132-megawatt (MW) South Fork Wind Farm located off the coast of Rhode Island and delivering power to New York, was installed in March 2024. There are also small projects installed off the coasts of Rhode Island and Virginia."
