Hej, from Skellefteå, Sweden and the project’s highly anticipated bi-annual consortium meeting! Erik Ronne (Boliden) and James Horne (WEEE Forum) welcomed our close to 50 participants this morning introducing Boliden’s local activities before moving on to three different UNFC case studies, namely: ⛏️ Otanmäki ilmenite tailings project, presented by Tuomas Leskelä, Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) / Geologian tutkimuskeskus (GTK). (Learn more: https://lnkd.in/evp7QBvw) 🪫 Battery stocks and flows in Germany until 2050 in the explanation of Franziska Maisel and Max Tippner from Technische Universität Berlin. 💻 WEEECycling SAS’s site specific case study introduced by Serge Kimbel. Vera Susanne Rotter, Katharina K., and Hanjung (Rebecca) Hu from Technische Universität Berlin have also prepared a extensive workshop on extending FutuRaM’s waste stream composition assessment(s) to enable the evaluation of secondary raw materials recoverability. Taking advantage of being close to the heart of Boliden operations, we invited Åke Roos, Head of Waste Valorization Research at Business Area Smelters and former CEO of the Rönnskär smelter (Boliden) to talk more about smelters’ waste streams and commercial product development. Closing the day, Ulf Degerstedt, Manager of Process Development (Boliden), took us through their various processes focussing on secondary raw materials recovery from WEEE at the Rönnskär smelter.
