Rolls-Royce inaugurates largest GCC in Bengaluru, India

Rolls-Royce, a British company specializing in aerospace and defence engines, launched its largest global capability and innovation centre (GCC) in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Industries & Infrastructure Minister MB Patil opened the facility at Manyata Embassy Business Park.

Chief Minister MK Stalin-led DMK government in Tamil Nadu said on Wednesday that global aerospace and defence technology leader Rolls-Royce has expressed strong interest in expanding its footprint in the state. According to the government, the UK-headquartered firm plans to establish a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, a research and training centre and significantly expand its IAMPL joint venture in Hosur. Rolls-Royce is one of the few global conglomerates with a leadership role in high-end jet engine manufacturing for both civilian and military aviation. On the second leg of the TN Rising European visit, Chief Minister MK Stalin held a series of high-level meetings in the UK, culminating in MoUs across defence and aerospace, maritime, renewables, textiles, and design. I recently attended the Business Development meet organised by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to explore opportunities for private sector MSME participation in their projects. What stood out to me was HAL’s strong outreach to involve MSMEs in indigenisation and outsourcing even for critical components that go into both military and civil aircraft. This reflects the trust HAL places in the private sector, and especially in MSMEs. It was clear that the future of indigenisation doesn’t lie only with large private players or government entities but to MSMEs as well. There is immense scope for MSMEs to meaningfully contribute to India's aerospace ecosystem and thus nation building too. #MSME #BACKBONE
