General Motors reposted this
We’re bringing LFP battery manufacturing to the U.S. In my second year at General Motors, I’ve committed myself to moving fast and driving a culture of innovation. You’re going to see a number of #battery moves in the coming weeks, but we’ll start with this: GM is expanding our Ultium Cells LLC partnership with LG Energy Solution to produce low-cost #LFP battery cell technology—right here in America. Our Spring Hill, TN Ultium Cells plant will have these cells ready starting in 2027. I had the chance to visit the Spring Hill team earlier this Summer—who are churning out millions of battery cells with benchmark yield and quality. Their work is already laying the foundation for what’s next. This upgrade will help us scale lower-cost batteries to complement our high-nickel and future lithium manganese rich solutions—delivering the right mix of range, performance, and affordability across our growing EV portfolio. Kurt, congratulations 🎊🎈🎉🍾👍🌷
Congrats Kurt! 🎉
Impressive work
Well done!
It’s such an exciting time to be at GM! Thanks for the update and your leadership, Kurt.
A major step forward for domestic EV battery production. Expanding into LFP technology will be key to making electric mobility more affordable and scalable. Great to see GM and LG Energy Solution leading the way.
Congratulations!
