🔹 Choosing the Right Silicone Round Fluted Drain Size: Why Gauge Matters in Clinical Practice At Ciel Medical Supplies, we understand that effective wound drainage management requires the right device for the right patient. Among our most widely used products, the Silicone Round Fluted Drain is available in a range of sizes — 9FR, 12FR, 15FR, 19FR, and 24FR — each designed for specific clinical settings. 💡 Here’s how different gauges are typically applied in practice: 9FR & 12FR (Small Gauge): Ideal for delicate procedures and smaller incisions, such as in plastic surgery or minor general surgery. Their slim profile reduces trauma and discomfort for patients. 15FR (Medium Gauge): A versatile option suitable for general surgeries where moderate drainage is anticipated, balancing effectiveness with patient comfort. 19FR (Large Gauge): Commonly used in orthopedic or abdominal surgeries with higher fluid output. Provides reliable drainage while maintaining patient safety. 24FR (Extra-Large Gauge): Best suited for extensive surgical sites, such as thoracic or complex abdominal procedures, where significant drainage control is critical. ✨ Key Advantage: The fluted design maximizes fluid collection efficiency while minimizing tissue adherence, ensuring both comfort and safety throughout the healing process. At Ciel Medical Supplies, we remain committed to offering a comprehensive portfolio of wound management solutions that empower surgeons and enhance recovery for patients. 👉 Which drain size do you use most frequently in your practice? When Spine Surgery Complications Happen: Lessons on Subsidence & Recovery | Staffingly Inc. In response to a LinkedIn post about a spine surgery complication, we wanted to highlight something important it’s not the complication that defines us, but how we respond to it. The story began with what seemed like a straightforward case, but when cage subsidence occurred, it turned into a learning moment shared openly with thousands of peers. Some readers questioned the frequency of complications. Others pointed out subsidence risks, asked whether bone quality was a factor, and even raised technical questions like the choice of graft, whether the endplate was over-prepared, or if osteoporosis played a role. A few asked why one surgical approach was chosen over another and what influenced that decision. The surgeon’s reply was simple yet powerful: complications happen to everyone but transparency, revision strategy, and patient safety come first. In this case, a revision was performed through a safe approach, the cage was removed and replaced, and stability was restored. The discussion sparked further reflections: some recalled decades of experience without similar outcomes, others debated technique, and one even applauded the courage it takes to post complications in such a public forum. The real takeaway? Every complication is a chance to learn, improve, and build trust. At Staffingly Inc., we believe the same applies to healthcare operations. Mistakes or bottlenecks in workflows don’t define an organization it’s how quickly and effectively you respond that makes the difference. With Virtual Medical Assistants, clinics and hospitals save up to 70% on staffing costs, while ensuring smoother workflows, cleaner documentation, and more time for what matters most: patient care. Phone tag. Voicemails. Missed connections. If you’ve ever tried to educate your cataract patients before they arrive in the office, you know the challenge. At Regional Eye Associates in Morgantown, WV, one dedicated team member was tasked with calling patients ahead of their consultation. With growing volume, the reality set in: it was a tall task to reach patients consistently and still deliver the level of detail they need to make informed choices. And in cataract surgery, timing matters. Patients deserve time to learn about their options without feeling rushed when the decision is in front of them. That’s why Regional Eye Associates decided to try a different approach. By partnering with Navigate Patient Solutions, they’ve been able to scale those conversations, ensuring patients get connected, educated, and ready for a meaningful discussion with their surgeon. Less phone tag for the practice. More prepared patients. Better use of everyone’s time.

The De Mayo Adapt2Fit is a modular knee positioner that provides surgeons with greater leg stability and range of motion during knee surgery by allowing full flexion and extension without repositioning the baseplate. Its design offers advantages for surgical staff by being modular and separating into two smaller pieces, allowing it to fit into smaller sterilization equipment and reducing cleaning time. This also improves space-saving in the operating room and ensures patient safety with a secure, protected leg and foot. Surgeon & Patient Advantages Extended Range of Motion: The design allows for a longer baseplate, providing more surface area to support the leg through a full range of flexion and extension without having to move the baseplate during surgery. Enhanced Stability: The Adapt2Fit securely holds the patient's leg and foot, providing stability for manipulation during total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision surgeries. Improved Patient Safety: A disposable, sterile, latex-free pad set is used to protect the patient's foot from pressure injuries, abrasions, and potential neurological issues. Adaptability: The positioner is designed to accommodate various leg lengths and provides stable support in different states of flexion and extension. Surgical Staff & Facility Advantages Modular Design for Sterilization: The positioner separates into two smaller sections, making it easier to fit into smaller autoclaves and sterilization trays, which is especially beneficial for outpatient centers. Faster Cleaning: Its reduced size after disassembly allows for it to be fully submerged in standard cleaning vessels, like sinks, in a single pass, saving time for sterile processing departments. Space-Saving: The modular nature and smaller footprint of the Adapt2Fit when disassembled lead to more efficient storage and handling in busy ORs and SPD departments. Increased Efficiency: A longer, more stable positioner reduces the time and labor involved in setup and processing, improving overall workflow in the operating room.
