Julia A. was in London last week attending the Global Synthetic Fuels Assembly, hearing from leaders across the sector, as well as policymakers and investors, all working to advance shared goals around decarbonisation and green economic growth. There were a few standout themes from discussions around the room: ⚡️ Green hydrogen has a critical role to play in accelerating the production and adoption of sustainable fuel sources ⚡️As demand for green hydrogen grows, unlocking investment is central - particularly for the domestic market ⚡️Collaboration and constructive dialogue between industry and government, to align regulation and drive growth, is hugely important Scotland is developing a strong reputation as a global hub for green hydrogen, and it’s always inspiring to get together with the sector to discuss its huge potential – including how we can tackle barriers to growth. Thanks to The Energy Huddle for organising a great event. 🔗 You can find out more about our projects here: https://lnkd.in/eyT-H-F2 #Hydrogen #H2 #SynethicFuels #eFuels #GreenEnergy

Green Hydrogen: A Strategic Imperative for Europe Europe’s path to climate neutrality requires solutions that address not just emissions, but also energy security, industrial competitiveness, and economic resilience. Green hydrogen is central to this agenda. Its strategic advantages are clear: • Decarbonisation at scale – enabling transformation of steel, chemicals, and transport • Energy independence – reducing reliance on fossil fuel imports • System integration – storing and balancing renewable energy across grids • Industrial leadership – creating opportunities for European companies in a global market projected to exceed €1 trillion by 2050 Through the OUTFOX project, our consortium is demonstrating how Solid Oxide Electrolysis (SOEL) can be scaled to industrial levels — removing a long-standing barrier to cost-competitive hydrogen production. Recent breakthroughs, including 900 cm² cells validated for long-term performance, show that industrial-scale deployment is not a theoretical possibility but an emerging reality. To fully unlock this potential, policy alignment and forward-looking regulation are critical: ✅ Stable investment frameworks ✅ Clear market signals for industrial adoption ✅ Support for scaling technologies from pilot to commercial deployment The opportunity is significant. With coordinated action, Europe can not only meet its climate targets but also establish global leadership in the hydrogen economy. #HydrogenStrategy #GreenHydrogen #SOEL #CleanEnergy #EUInnovation #HydrogenEconomy #OUTFOX

Novelis powers ahead with UK’s first hydrogen fuel switch, targets 45,000 tonnes CO₂ cut: Novelis, a global leader in aluminium rolling and recycling, has completed the UK’s first industrial-scale hydrogen fuel switching trial at its Latchford plant. Backed by £1bn from the UK’s Net Zero Innovation Portfolio, the two-week trial successfully adapted a natural gas furnace to run on hydrogen, paving the way for significant carbon reductions, with the company targeting a 45,000-tonne CO₂ cut. bp's H2Teesside hydrogen plant faces delay as AI data centre plan sparks political turf war: BP’s proposed 1.2GW H2Teesside blue hydrogen plant has been delayed as the UK government weighs a rival plan to use the same site for a large AI data centre. The hydrogen project, expected to supply over 10% of the UK’s clean energy by 2030, now faces uncertainty amid political tensions between Energy Secretary Ed Miliband, who opposes the centre’s high energy and water demands, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who supports it as part of an “AI Growth Zone.” Landowners must submit revised plans by 11 September. Green hydrogen projects in line for special streamlined permitting rules: The UK government is consulting on changes to environmental permitting laws that could fast-track “small-scale” green hydrogen projects. The proposals would reduce or remove permitting requirements for low-risk activities such as hydrogen production, storage, and industrial use. Defra argues this would allow the Environment Agency more flexibility, helping accelerate the rollout of green hydrogen without compromising environmental standards. #HydrogenNews #HydrogenInUK #HydrogenInnovation #Innovation #NetZero #GreenHydrogen

The global hydrogen economy is building momentum—and infrastructure is the engine behind it. According to the latest reports, over 100 hydrogen and ammonia export terminals are being developed across multiple continents, with more than half focused specifically on ammonia exports—a key hydrogen carrier in global trade. In Europe, projects prioritised under the EU’s hydrogen infrastructure map—like hydrogen pipelines, storage facilities, and import terminals—are accelerating under the PCI/PMI framework, strengthening cross-border connectivity. The Hydrogen Council, supported by McKinsey & Company, underscores that hydrogen demand could reach 34 million tonnes per year by 2030, contingent on adequate infrastructure and policy delivery. From renewable-rich producing regions to energy-hungry markets, these trade corridors are becoming the lifeblood of a viable global hydrogen ecosystem. #GreenEnergy #HydrogenFuture #SolarPower #SolarEnergy #EnergyStorage #GreenHydrogen #CleanEnergy #SustainableEnergy #RenewableEnergy #HydrogenTechnology #ClimateAction #CleanTech #Innovation #ImpactInvesting #EcoInvesting #Capital #CapitalRaise

This week’s report from the Hydrogen Council shows that committed investment in clean hydrogen has surpassed $110 billion, across more than 500 projects worldwide. The uptake of hydrogen is a necessity for #industrialdecarbonisation and solid oxide electrolysis (#SOEC) is playing a major part in this transition due to its high efficiency and scalability. Read the Hydrogen Council report to see where investment and policy are truly making a difference. https://lnkd.in/ezhRdhGM

Carbon reductions must be aggressive, but realistic. Not every sector can electrify fast enough or afford disruption. HYDROH2 supports global net-zero goals by enabling clean hydrogen production at the point of use, helping energy-intensive sectors lower emissions without compromising availability or performance. Hydrogen is not an alternative. It’s an essential part of the decarbonization toolkit. 🔗 Read more about hydrogen’s real-world role in reaching net-zero milestones: hydroh2.com #greenenergy #energysolutions #energyindustry
