"I love you". At the end of every one of our flagship events, in front of an audience of 300, I find myself blurting out these words to my team as I thank them. It's embarrassing. It makes the audience (and my team) squirm. There are giggles in the room. But I can't help it. Then it hit me where I learned that it was OK. In fact, right. I was lucky to have Gianpiero Petriglieri as my teacher during my fellowship at the World Economic Forum. "Leadership is an expression of love. Because it's an expression of who and what we care about" GP says. And how not to care about those giving what is most precious: their time and talent, to achieve incredible things together? Here's my Friday appreciation post to the amazing MIT Solve team. Photos by David Lee - honorary team Solve! Gianpiero Petriglieri your lessons resonate deep and are still with me a decade later. Thank you!
I have two things to say. Actually, three. First, ❤️❤️❤️. Second, there you are again, giving a good meaning to the idea of saying the quiet part out loud. Third, lucky those who earn your love, and work with your leadership. Brava!
Hala Hanna I’m so glad you are putting that love out in the world and teaching your team that it’s ok to use that powerful word. It’s always love or fear, right? …and we certainly have enough fear these days. Thank you for your leadership.
L❤️ve this because how can you ever (and why should you) hide your love.
When am I hosting you on SpreadLoveio Hala??
Love is always the answer 🤍
I love this and totally relate. Thank you for sharing this important reflection. When we stand on our purpose, we do the work of love.
This is beautiful and a great reminder of the great responsibility every leader has in their hands
Three magic words that always win…
Hala Hanna You are such incredible leader and visionary. What you pour into your team and members of the cohort is priceless. I am so proud of your work.
