Manual processes and disconnected systems are holding back India’s refineries. 🛠 Shift handovers, SOPs, safety checklists and incident reports often remain paper-based. 📑 Critical documents are duplicated, outdated or hard to trace. As facilities scale up, these inefficiencies risk safety, compliance and output. In part 2 of our Fueling the Future video series, Rajat Tikku explains how workflow management and documentation shape the next phase of India’s oil & gas modernization. No touch time: a critical concept in subsea oil & gas operations! What is "no touch time"? A period after shutdown where no intervention is needed to prevent hydrate formation in pipelines or flowlines. Typical duration: Usually lasts 2–6 hours, depending on system insulation, Seabed temperature, pipeline size, and fluid properties. Why is it important? It gives operators a safe window to restart production without the risk of hydrate plugs or the immediate need for costly remediation. Key influencing factors: Insulation quality Ambient temperatures Flowline size/material Fluid thermal properties What if the window is exceeded? Actions like Flowline displacement or depressurization may be necessary to prevent dangerous hydrate blockages. Added value: Effective management of no touch time helps reduce operational complexity and can save significant operational expenses.

Breaking Down Oil & Gas Interview Questions – Part 4: Midstream & Flow Assurance Continuing the series where we answer the Top 30 Oil & Gas Interview Questions you’ve all been asking for. This time, we move to Midstream & Flow Assurance critical for transportation and reliability in oil & gas operations. Here are the key questions with answers: 16) CNG vs LNG—when would each be preferred? • CNG: Short-distance transport, lower cost. • LNG: Long-distance shipping & storage efficiency. 17) Causes of wax deposition and how to mitigate it. • Causes: Temperature drop causing paraffin precipitation. • Mitigation: Heating, insulation, chemical inhibitors, pigging. 18) Corrosion monitoring methods you know. • Weight-loss coupons, ultrasonic testing (UT), intelligent pigging. 19) What is a gathering system vs a trunkline? • Gathering: Collects from multiple wells to processing plant. • Trunkline: Large pipeline to refinery or export terminal. 20) How to balance throughput, integrity & cost in pipelines? • Flow assurance modeling, corrosion inhibitors, pigging, optimized pumping schedules. 👉 Next: Downstream & Processing Basics (Part 5)! Don’t miss it. #OilAndGas #PipelineEngineering #Midstream #FlowAssurance #EnergyIndustry #InterviewTips

Production Measurement Protocol – A Cornerstone for Transparency in Oil Measurement In oil & gas operations, fair and transparent measurement is not just a technical requirement — it is the foundation of trust between operators and regulators. The Production Measurement Protocol developed for Block-9 (Alfaihaa Oil Field) sets a clear framework for how custody transfer metering systems are operated, calibrated, and audited. It defines the roles of Basra Oil Company (BOC) and Kuwait Energy Basra Limited (KEBL), ensures alignment with API MPMS and ASTM standards, and provides contingency methods such as clamp-on meters and tank gauging to maintain continuity. Beyond numbers, this protocol safeguards transparency, strengthens accountability, and protects stakeholders’ rights by ensuring that every barrel is measured with integrity. ✅ A reminder that measurement is not only about technology — it is about fairness, trust, and sustainable cooperation.

📊 Oil & Gas markets are shifting. Rig activity in MENA is projected to grow significantly, driven by both oil demand recovery and long-term gas projects. ✅ For drilling engineers, this means more directional work ahead. ✅ For service providers, this means stronger demand on performance & reliability. Question: Do you think the drilling industry is ready for a strong rebound — or will costs and supply chain delays hold us back?

3-Phase Separators: The Backbone of Oil & Gas Production 🚀 In upstream operations, fluid separation isn’t just a process—it’s the foundation of safe and profitable production. That’s where the 3-phase separator proves its value: 🔹 Oil – Stabilized for storage or export 🔹 Gas – Directed to processing, compression, or flaring 🔹 Produced Water – Treated on site or reinjected for pressure support The principle is simple but powerful: gravity + density differences + retention time = clean and reliable separation. 👉 Key Applications: 🏝 Offshore & Onshore Production Facilities ⚡ Early Production Units (EPUs) 🧪 Well Testing & Monitoring 💡 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) projects 👉 Why It’s Critical: 📊 Ensures precise measurement for custody transfer ⚙️ Improves flow assurance and system reliability 🛡 Safeguards downstream processing equipment 🌱 Reduces environmental risks through controlled water handling As production environments evolve and water cut increases, the role of 3-phase separators becomes even more strategic—directly impacting efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability goals. 💡 Takeaway: Think of your separator not just as a vessel, but as a performance driver for the entire facility. ✨ Let’s start a conversation: How do you see separation technology evolving in the next decade? #OilAndGas #PetroleumEngineering #Production #Innovation #ReservoirEngineering #Energy #Operations #FlowAssurance #WellTesting #Oilfield #EnergyEfficiency #EngineeringExcellence
